Heart Evangelista is truly living up to her reputation as a global fashion and style icon as she makes a splash at a fashion event in Asia before making her way to France for Paris Fashion Week.

While Heart is currently attending multiple fashion shows in France for Paris Fashion Week, she was already the star of the show at the Max Mara 75th anniversary celebrations held in Shanghai. In the Reel, Heart lauded Max Mara's 75-year history, noting that “they have never failed with everything that they have done.”

“It's such a vibe. It's celebrating 75 years of Max Mara…they have never failed with everything that they have done,” she said. “You can see with their archival pieces how they've touched culture. They have continued to evolve, stay classic but adapt to the times.”

Heart further emphasized her point by writing in the caption: “A collection inspired by the future, presented in a city that never stops evolving.”

Heart's presence at the 25th Max Mara anniversary celebrations was just a prelude to her actually meeting the label's current fashion director and coordinator. She recently posted multiple photos of her with designer Laura Lusuardi, writing in the caption to the post that meeting Laura Lusuardi was a lovely moment.

Aside from Laura Lusuardi, Heart has met multiple prominent names in fashion over several years. Back in February, Heart was personally invited by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya of Thailand to attend the princess' fashion show.

Heart was also invited to the KRAAM International Symposium 2025: Hands Across Culture event in November last year. The KRAAM International Symposium is a project by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya of Thailand to connect Thai weavers with international experts to advance traditional Kraam or indigo fabric products.

Another designer Heart frequently works with is Italian designer Giambattista Valli, who she has been working with as far back as 2023. Back then, she posted a couple of photos of her with him and wrote in the caption that there is “something exciting happening soon”. She also wrote that she had a “sweet afternoon” with the then 57-year-old ready-to-wear and haute couture designer.

In recent years, more Filipinos are steadily carving out their path in the global fashion scene. From style stars making frequent appearances at top runway shows to homegrown designers steadily gaining international recognition, it’s safe to say that the impact of Filipino fashion is expanding well beyond our borders.

On September 7, 2024, Filipinxt, a New York-based organization, held its second-ever showcase, this time for the Spring/Summer 2025 season. Following their debut in May during Fall/Winter 2024, the group continues its mission to put Filipino designers on a global platform, offering them the opportunity to present their collections in New York during fashion week.

This season, Filipinxt brought together six Filipino fashion brands and designers. Bessie Besana, Wilson Limon of NIñoFranco, Gabby Garcia of Tagpi, and Llamanzares Barongs each presented capsule collections, while the main showcase featured the Spring/Summer 2025 lineup of Adrienne Charuel of Maison Métisse, Chynna Mamawal, and Andrea Tetangco. The show drew in key Filipino guests, with Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach seated in the front row, while Miss Universe 2022 R'bonney Gabriel and Fil-Am model Cole Micek walked the runway for Chynna Mamawal.

In a press release, the designers expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their creations on an international platform. “As a Filipina, I feel really proud and I also feel very thankful to be part of Filipinxt,” says Adrienne Charuel. “It’s not easy to be able to do a show in New York. It’s a great opportunity.”

Chynna Mamawal echoes similar sentiments, stating: “It’s good that Filipinos have this kind of platform to showcase their clothes.” To which Andrea Tetangco further adds: “[Filipinxt] is the next platform for Filipino designers who will showcase globally."

Returning for his sophomore appearance on Filipinxt, Wilson Limon of NiñoFranco expressed his enthusiasm. “New York Fashion Week is one of my bucket lists,” the Mindanaon designer shares. "Filipinxt is exciting—it’s progressive and evolving.”

Gabby Garcia, creative director of Tagpi, emphasized how Filipinxt aligns with his commitment to championing local artisanship. “I want to make people realize that our culture and traditions are something to be proud of,” he affirms.

Bridal designer Bessie Besana, the producer behind Filipinxt, explained that the organization’s mission is centered on giving Filipino talent a platform in New York, one of the world’s fashion capitals. “Filipinxt really revolves around the idea of bringing the Filipino talent to New York,” he states.

Though still in its early stages, Bessie has his eyes set on expanding their reach. In fact, by October 2024, Filipinxt will launch filipinxt.com, an e-commerce platform where Filipino designers can market their work. “We want them to create more markets outside the Philippines and we want them to touch base with other buyers, with other stores around the world.

Miss Universe Thailand just recently crowned their new queen, Opal Suchata, from Bangkok!

During the coronation night on July 14, the beauty queen wore a stunning creation by Filipino designer Rian Fernandez.

According to Rian’s Instagram post, the off-shoulder trumpet gown, designed with hand-embroidered glass crystals, was inspired by Bangkok’s rich artistry.

“Opal’s gown symbolizes triumph over adversity. The ribbon detail honors those touched by breast cancer, reflecting Opal’s personal journey and unwavering spirit. In radiant gold and silver tones, this gown embodies Opal’s courage, making her a true beacon of grace and empowerment,” Rian said.

This is the first time that the gown worn by the winning candidate was made by an international designer.

“As the first international designer to win in Miss Universe Thailand pageant history, my heart overflows with gratitude to my RF artisans,” Rian said in another post. “Together, we shattered boundaries and painted an ensemble of collaboration, love, and triumph. This is not just a win; it’s a testament to the power of dreams and the strength of unity.”

Rian was also the designer behind the evening gown of Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel, as well as the Champagne gown Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi wore during her appearance at Miss Universe Thailand 2023.

Meanwhile, Opal will be representing Thailand at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant alongside other national titleholders, including Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo.
