Another Mutya ng Pilipinas titleholder has won an international crown for the Philippines. Andrea Endicio topped the inaugural Miss Polo Universe pageant held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Sept. 26 (27 in Manila).

The courtside reporter and veteran of national beauty contests bested eight other aspirants, including a candidate representing the Filipino community in the UAE, at the international pageant’s second staging held at Movenpick Grand Al Bustan.

Endicio also bagged the lion’s share of special awards in the evening. She was Best in National Costume, Best in Production Number, Best in Evening Gown, Miss Photogenic, Face of Luxurist, and Brilliant Mind Institute Choice.

With her victory, the Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant now has two international titles and one runner-up finish for this year alone. Before Endicio’s coronation in Dubai, her batchmate in the 2025 national pageant Lyndzy Maranan was crowned Miss Global Universe in Malaysia. Eunice Deza, meanwhile, finished third at the Top Model of the World competition in Egypt.

The three ladies who all copped honors for the Philippines in the international arena were initially not meant to take part in the respective international competitions that they competed in when they earned their Mutya ng Pilipinas titles last year.

The Philippines further asserted its status as an international pageant powerhouse by posting victories in two competitions that took place in two different countries in one night.

Sophia Bianca Santos was crowned Miss Elite 2026 in Somabay, Egypt, on Sept. 18 (19 in Manila), posting an unprecedented back-to-back for the Philippines.

The Kapampagan contender emerged victorious from a field of 36 aspirants to suceed Filipino queen Juvyel Anne Saluta who won at the previous staging of the pageant held in 2024. She, however, was not able to personally crown Santos.

In Turkiye, Merianne Gabrielle Dekit became the first Filipino woman to top the female category of the Top Model of Universe competition, besting 23 other competitors for the title.

The two Filipino contenders also scored early wins before they clinched their respective titles. Santos was proclaimed Best in Evening Gown, while Dekit topped the online popularity poll.

During the Miss Elite question round, Santos was asked why she should represent the brand to the world. She mentioned that she had waited two years to get to that stage.

“I want to share my story that I grew up in a public market to help my mom with our finances. That taught me the value of hard work and the importance of never giving up. And that’s why I am here, I will represent my beloved country, the Philippines,” she said.

“And if I were to win tonight I am ready. I am ready not only to wear the crown, but also to carry the responsibility with a heart, a purpose, and authenticity,” Santos capped her response.

It had been a long journey for Santos to get to represent the Philippines on the international stage since her first foray on the national stage via the 2024 Miss World Philippines pageant.

Krishnah Gravidez won the top prize, with three more ladies claiming other national titles, while Santos settled for the “Second Princess” placement.

Santos moved to the Miss Grand Philippines pageant in the same year, but Christine Juliane “CJ” Opiaza bagged the crown, and she receive the Universal Woman Philippines title instead.

But because she was too young to meet the minimum age requirement of the Universal Woman pageant, the organizers were compelled to take her crown and award it to 2024 Miss World Philippines First Princess Jasmine Omay.

Her dream of representing the Philippines in an international competition took the backseat anew, and she waited for the organizers to find another contest where she can raise the country’s flag.

In 2025, after giving up the Universal Woman Philippines title, Santos received news from ALV Pageant Circle that she has been appointed to compete at the Miss Elite pageant in Egypt. But the 2025 staging of the international competition was postponed, and she was made to wait longer.

And two years since stepping on her first national pageant, Santos found herself packing for Egypt to finally represent the Philippines on the international stage. And all her patience paid off.

PH's Katrina Llegado wins Miss Supranational 2026

‘Above and beyond’: Katrina Llegado wins Miss Supranational 2026, ends PH’s 13-year title drought

Marilag Odtohan

August 01, 2026

Pinay beauty queen Katrina Llegado has been crowned Miss Supranational 2026, ending the Philippines’ 13-year wait for the international title on Saturday, August 1 (PH Time) during the coronation night held in Poland.

The Taguig City native bested 66 other aspirants to become the successor of Eduarda Braum of Brazil, making her only the second Pinay delegate to win the Miss Supranational title.

Before Llegado’s victory, the Philippines last held the title in 2013 through Mutya Datul, whose triumph was considered historic after becoming the first Pinay and Asian contender to win the crown.

During the evening gown segment, Llegado dazzled in a Rian Fernandez creation featuring sheer long sleeves embellished with shimmering beadwork and intricate detailing. Llegado said the gown was inspired by the hope, light, and renewed inspiration that every sunrise brings.

Her defining moment came during the final question-and-answer round when she was asked: “The moment you stopped trying to become the woman the world expected, and started becoming the woman you’re really meant to be.”

“I always believe that we should never fit into a mold. We are perfectly imperfect. I am someone who struggles [with] perfection, but I am here today doing my best, and becoming my best version [of myself]. And here in Miss Supranational, I know I belong [here]. I know [there’s] a place for me, and this is becoming Supra, above and beyond,” Llegado responded.

Ahead of the coronation night, the beauty queen had already strutted the pre-pageant events of the competition, particularly when she donned a gumamela-inspired national costume featuring a voluminous coral-pink ensemble composed of layered petals.

Hours before taking the Miss Supranational finals night, Llegado also shared a childhood photo of herself on social media with the caption, “Always doing it for my younger self.”

The post quickly resonated with pageant fans who saw it as a heartfelt reflection on the journey that led her to the international stage.

This was not Llegado’s first international pageant stint. She previously represented the Philippines at Reina Hispanoamericana 2019 in Bolivia, where she finished as Quinta Finalista (5th runner-up).

She secured her ticket to Miss Supranational 2026 more than a year ago after reaching the finals of Miss Universe Philippines 2025.

Earlier this year, Llegado already crowned her successor as Miss Supranational Philippines in Allyson Hetland of Pampanga.

Completing the Miss Supranational 2026 court were: Eve Gilles of France as 1st runner-up; Lara Marina of Brazil as 2nd runner-up; Ndah Eno of Nigeria as 3rd runner-up; and Karolina Gorylova of the Czech Republic as 4th runner-up.

The pageant also named its continental titleholders: Tracy Nabukeera of Tanzania for Africa, Silvia Maestre of Venezuela for the Americas, Agnes Rahajeng of Indonesia for Asia and Oceania, Rasheda Green of Jamaica for the Caribbean, and Oliwia Mikulska of Poland for Europe.

Following the coronation, congratulations poured in from the Philippine pageant community. Mutya Datul warmly welcomed Llegado into the circle of Miss Supranational winners, while the Miss Universe Philippines Organization also celebrated the victory as another milestone for the country’s pageant legacy.

Former Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 winner Winwyn Marquez joined the growing list of beauty queens applauding Llegado’s achievement, while Miss Supranational 2025 3rd runner-up Tarah Valencia and Miss International 2025 4th runner-up Myrna Esguerra expressed their support through an Instagram Story shortly after the coronation.

Alexandra Krishna Oriño, a semifinalist from the recent Miss Universe Philippines competition last May, won her first international crown as Miss Tourism at a pageant held in Negombo, Sri Lanka on July 25 (July 26 in Manila).

Meanwhile, Ma. Kathleen Monjardin who comes from Boracay, won the title of Miss Teen Tourism, a separate category from the same pageant.

A total of 18 delegates participated in the twin competitions for both the “Miss” and “Teen” categories, conducted in a single program and organized by a team based in the Philippines.

Both Oriño and Monjardin were fielded by Gerald Ortiz, organizer of the Mr. and Ms. Philippine Youth pageant. He was also the local director who appointed Ahtisa Manalo in both of her Miss Universe Philippines competitions in 2024 and 2025.

With years of national pageant experience under her belt, accountant Anne De Mesa convincingly snagged the 2026 Miss Tourism Worldwide title in Malaysia.

De Mesa bested more than a dozen aspirants at the competition held at Forest City Golf Resort in Johor Bahru on Saturday evening, April 25, to become the second Filipino woman to win the title.

At her recent national pageant, the 2026 Miss World Philippines competition in February, De Mesa was proclaimed as First Princess. The main title went to teen queen Asia Rose Simpson.

“I’m thankful for ALV Pageant Circle and the Miss World Philippines Organization for seeing potential in me. And finally, this is it, we can scream ‘Philippines!’” she told Inquirer Entertainment before she left for the international pageant.

Filipino-American women emerged victorious in the recently concluded Queens of Australia pageant, earning the right to represent the “Land Down Under” on the international stage.

Three Australian women of Filipino heritage took home the major titles at the end of the national competition held at the Bryan Brown Theater in New South Wales on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 7. Nine ladies took part in the contest.

Alexa Roder from Queensland was crowned Miss Earth Australia, succeeding Jessica Lane, the first Australian woman to win the Miss Earth title.

The new queen is set to compete in the 25th staging of the Manila-based Miss Earth pageant that will be held later this year and try to post a second consecutive win for Australia.

Crowned Miss International Australia was Bella Dela Cruz from New South Wales. She had recently competed in the 2025 Miss Universe Philippines pageant, where she finished in the Top 24.

She was fielded by the Filipino community in Australia for the 2025 Miss Universe Philippines pageant to represent Sydney. But she eventually carried her Filipino hometown of Lucena in the national competition.

Dela Cruz succeeded last year’s Australian Miss International delegate, Selina McCloskey, and is set to compete in the 63rd edition of the global tilt that will be held in Tokyo, Japan, in November.

The third big winner was Adriana Gravador, also from New South Wales. She was crowned Miss Eco Australia and is set to compete in next year’s Miss Eco International pageant and try to succeed the Filipino queen Alexie Mae Brooks.

Three more titleholders were proclaimed at the pageant, all from New South Wales — Miss Earth Australia Fire Jamie Boyd, Miss Earth Australia-Water Andrea Alexis, and Miss Earth Australia-Air Tania Sheckleton.

The Queens of Australia pageant is organized by Stargazer Production and serves as the national competition for the country’s delegates to the Miss Earth, Miss International, and Miss Eco International pageants. /edv
